Cristian Ronaldo biography

Cristiano Ronaldo was born on the 5th of February 1985 on the Portuguese island of Madeira. His father named him after the American president at that time, Ronald Reagan, because of his respect for the man. Cristiano Ronaldo has also one brother and two sisters. Being from Madeira, mainly a farmland island, not many people would have thought that he would make it to the top of European football. At the age of twelve he was scouted by the big clubs in Portugal but he chose to play for Sporting, the club he had always supported. At 17 Cristiano Ronaldo played his first game against Moreirense and it was a dream debut. He played well and scored two goals, and he soon became one of the fan’s favourites. During and after the u-17 European Championships he was watched closely by many of the top European clubs such as Liverpool and Juventus. And after his first season in Sporting, the Portuguese club couldn’t hold on to him any longer and his change to Manchester United in the Premier League became a reality.
